MIKE MILLER QUINTET - WORLD GOES ROUND

Guitar player Mike Miller's musical career is quite impressive. He recorded with The Yellowjackets, collaborated with Alphonso Johnson and was a part of Chick Corea's Elektric Band.
Next to these working with all these jazz cats, Mike also has numerous links to the Zappa universe. He recorded with The Fowler Brothers, he toured and recorded with The Grandmothers in the early eighties, and he was part of The Band From Utopia to name just a few.
Earlier this month, I saw him in concert with the Grande Mothers, performing the music of FZ together with Napoleon Murphy Brock, Don Preston, Dave Johnson and Chris Garcia.
It was at this very concert that I picked up a copy of "World Goes Round", one of his two solo albums.(The other one's called "Save The Moon".)

"World Goes Round" is a beautiful, jazzy album. The compositions are great, mixing rock, jazz and fusion, and the playing is superb.
The quintet features Mike Miller on guitar, Walt Fowler on trumpet, Albert Wing on tenor sax, Chad Wackerman on drums, and Jimmy Johnson on bass.

A must-have album.
Available from CDBaby.

Here's the Mike Miller Quintet in concert:

And here's Mike with Jeff Severson, performing Steely Dan's 'Josie'.
